A total of 215 students from 27 Western New York high schools have been inducted into Erie 1 BOCES’ chapter of the National Technical Honor Society (NTHS).

This year’s cohort includes 14 seniors from Tonawanda High School. Those seniors include – with their Erie 1 BOCES Career and Technical Education program – Tyler Baker (Welding), Nikolas Balling (Electrical Systems), Hannah Becker (Fashion Design Technology), Kylie Derrett (Fashion Design Technology), Kyle Donovan (Welding), Joseph Downey (Building Trades), Alexis Dunn (Criminal Justice), Jeremiah Goeddertz (Sports Science Careers), Devon Licht (Culinary Arts), Corinne Marciniak (Culinary Arts), Briana Miller (Criminal Justice), Evan Miranda (Electrical Systems), Alivia Pierino (Health Careers/Basic Nursing) and Michaela Robertson (Sports Science Careers).

In lieu of the traditional in-person induction ceremony, Erie 1 BOCES put together three separate videos honoring the inductees of the Harkness, Kenton and Potter career and technical centers. In order to qualify for acceptance into NTHS, a student must be nominated by his or her teacher, have a 90 percent or higher average in their career and technical education (CTE) course, and maintain an overall grade point average (GPA) of 85. Furthermore, students must demonstrate skill development and leadership and hone their responsibility and good character. NTHS takes a holistic approach to evaluating students’ success in the classroom.
