With a decade in the district now behind her, Tonawanda Elementary School fifth-grade teacher Samantha Szalkowski can confidently say that one of the best parts of teaching is seeing former students grow and succeed long after they leave her classroom. That impact extends beyond the school day, as she has also served as a soccer and basketball coach, giving her additional opportunities to build relationships with students and support their growth on the field and court.
Szalkowski says she has especially valued the friendships she has formed with colleagues and the opportunity to help students prepare for middle school.
TES Principal Robert Ross praised her commitment to her students and willingness to take on new challenges, including serving as fifth-grade chair and piloting the district’s new reading series. He had this to say about Szalkowski as an educator: “She works to ensure her students are not only academically prepared but also have the confidence and skills they need to take this next step. Her experience, commitment, and care for her students help make their final year at the elementary level a meaningful one.”
As she looks ahead, Szalkowski is excited for another decade of teaching, coaching and being part of the Tonawanda school community.
Please join us in congratulating Samantha Szalkowski on her dedication to our District!

Congratulations!
