The Tonawanda City School District is proud to congratulate Board of Education President Brandon McGuire on being recognized with the Lorie Sabo Advocacy Award. This award goes to the Erie County Association of School Boards (ECASB) member who has demonstrated active and impactful advocacy for public education
McGuire has distinguished himself as a dedicated advocate for public education, serving not only the Tonawanda City School District but also school communities throughout Western New York. In addition to his role with the District's Board of Education, McGuire has served with the ECASB as a representative to the Delegate Assembly.
His commitment to leadership and advocacy has earned him several honors, including the Rising Star and Shining Star awards from ECASB. Last year, he was also one of three recipients of the Ray Carr Emerging Leaders Award.
McGuire has actively participated in professional development opportunities through ECASB, attending workshops, law conferences, and New York State School Boards Association conventions to strengthen his understanding of educational leadership and governance.
Beyond his service to public education, McGuire has long been involved in the Tonawanda community. He has served as a board member for Tonawanda American Little League and as commissioner for the Tonawanda football program. As a parent of three children attending schools throughout the district, he remains deeply invested in the success of Tonawanda students and families.
Known for his collaborative approach, McGuire regularly seeks insight from educational organizations and fellow board members across the region. His growing involvement in advocacy efforts through ECASB, the New York State School Boards Association and legislative advocacy events in Albany has helped amplify the voice of local school districts on issues affecting students and public education
