The Tonawanda City School District is set to begin a series of facility and infrastructure improvements this summer as part of the Tona2024 Middle/High School Infrastructure and Enhancement Capital Improvement Project.
Work will begin in phases starting June 29 and continue throughout the summer, with upgrades designed to enhance learning spaces, improve accessibility and modernize district facilities.
First Phase Begins June 29
Construction crews will begin work on several major projects at Tonawanda Middle/High School, including:
Auditorium upgrades
Renovation of the Middle School main office
Phase 1 of Middle School classroom renovations
Restroom renovations
Roof replacement work
These improvements are aimed at creating more modern, functional and welcoming spaces for students, staff and visitors.
Athletic and Exterior Improvements Begin July 6
Additional projects will commence July 6, including:
Replacement of the Athletic Stadium turf field
Upgrades to the girls softball field
Renumbering of exterior middle/high school doors
As part of the door renumbering project, new vinyl graphics will be added to select exterior entrances to improve wayfinding and building identification.
Please note: The Athletic Stadium will be closed during the turf replacement project. Community members and visitors are asked to avoid the area while construction is underway.
Pickleball Court Upgrades to Follow
Beginning July 13, work will start on upgrades to the district's pickleball courts, further enhancing recreational opportunities on campus.
Investing in the Future
The summer projects represent the district's continued commitment to maintaining safe, modern and high-quality learning environments for students while investing in facilities that serve the broader Tonawanda community.
The district appreciates the patience and cooperation of students, families, staff and community members as these improvements are completed and looks forward to welcoming everyone back to upgraded spaces in the months ahead.
