Dear Parents/Caregivers,
In partnership with the City of Tonawanda Police Department, we want to remind families about the use of e-bikes and e-scooters. As these devices become more common, families must understand the New York State law for student safety. Under New York State law, operators of e-bikes and e-scooters must be at least 16 years old. In addition, students must follow all traffic laws, ride responsibly, and use appropriate safety equipment as required by law and local guidance.
We ask for your partnership in reviewing the following expectations with your child:
Students who ride e-bikes or e-scooters must be 16 years of age or older.
E-bikes and e-scooters are not permitted on public sidewalks.
Riders must obey all traffic laws, signals, and road rules.
Unsafe or reckless riding is not permitted.
Please speak with your child about using these devices responsibly and safely. Our shared goal is to protect students and promote a safe environment for everyone in our community.
Sincerely,
Middle/High School Administration Team
