What is a School Resource Officer?
A School Resource Officer (SRO) is a specially trained law enforcement officer assigned to work in schools, serving as a trusted protector, mentor, and resource for students and staff. SRO’s help maintain a safe and secure learning environment by building positive relationships, responding tosafety concerns, and providing guidance on issues like bullying, conflict resolution, and responsible decision-making. Their presence not only helps prevent problems before they escalate, but also fosters trust between youth and law enforcement, making them a vital part of a school community’s support system.
