congratulations, 25 years, henry hughes

For more than 25 years, Henry Hughes has dedicated himself to shaping the minds of students in our district.

As an eighth-grade social studies teacher at Tonawanda Middle School, Hughes is known for his rigorous, relevant and student-centered lessons. When students enter his classroom, they know they’ll engage in thoughtful questioning, hands-on activities and purposeful discussions.

TMS Principal Kristine Strible shares, “Mr. Hughes guides students to analyze primary sources, make connections across eras and understand the “why” behind historical events. His ability to scaffold complex content ensures that all learners feel confident, supported and challenged.”

Hughes influence extends beyond the classroom through his role as the boys’ modified basketball coach, where he continues to inspire and mentor students.

Please join us in thanking Hughes for his 25 years of outstanding service to the students and Tonawanda community.
