congratulations, renee smith, 15 years

Renee Smith started her career with Tonawanda City School District 15 years ago as a physical education teacher. Since then, her career with the district has taken her from the gym to Athletics, and eventually into administration as Assistant Principal at Tonawanda High School.

For Smith, each role has given her a different opportunity to work with students and staff and grow as an educator and leader. She credits her colleagues who quickly became friends, with making Tonawanda feel like home from the beginning.

Now 15 years in, Smith says the relationships she has built and the chance to work with students every day are still what she values most. She is grateful for the staff and administration who have supported her along the way and takes pride in being able to lead, help others and make a difference in the lives of students and staff.

THS Principal Lyndsey Todaro has worked closely with Smith and seen that commitment firsthand, saying this: “Her ability to build meaningful relationships with students, staff, and families, while approaching every challenge with professionalism, empathy, and sound judgment, makes her an extraordinary partner.”

Smith is a thoughtful educator who has embraced Tonawanda and is dedicated to our school community.  In every role that she has served during her tenure in our district, she has been a leader in caring for students, positively influencing our school culture, and demonstrating an unwavering commitment to student success, staff collaboration, and the continued growth of our school community

Join us in congratulating Renee Smith on her many years of dedication to the students of our district!
