congratulations, 25 years, marie burger

For over 25 years, Marie Burger has been a steady and compassionate presence in our district. As the Tonawanda Elementary School social worker, Burger has witnessed and adapted to countless changes, from shifts in administration and buildings to evolving staff teams. Through it all, her unwavering commitment to student success has remained constant.

Burger has worked in nearly every school in the district (except Highland!), often rotating between three buildings a week. Today, she enjoys being rooted in one building, where she can build meaningful relationships with all students, not just those on her caseload.

One of Burger's most beloved contributions is her therapy dog, Storm. For the past eight years, Storm has joined Burger twice a week, offering comfort and joy to students and staff alike. Their presence is a testament to the district’s support for innovative approaches to student wellness.

According to TES Principal Rob Ross, Burger is a master at teaching social-emotional strategies, and with the help of Storm, makes the school community safe and welcoming.

We may be a small district, but as Burger says: “We are MIGHTY!”

Join us in thanking Marie Burger for her years of devotion to this district and the students.
