Instructional Coaching

ext. 1039

Let us think of education as the means of developing our greatest abilities, because in each of us there is a private hope and dream which, fulfilled, can be translated into benefit for everyone and greater strength for our nation. ~ John F. Kennedy

Role of the Coach:

TCSD has initiated Instructional Coaching for grades PreK-12. The purpose of a coach is to provide support in all areas of curriculum, instruction, and assessment. An Instructional Coach does not evaluate teachers.

My goals are:

A. To support all staff and student learning

B. Increase student achievement by providing a safe and confident learning environment in which teachers can openly discuss the challenges they face and ideas they have.

How Have Teachers Used My Services:

-Implement Kagan cooperative group structures to increase active learning

-Classroom management strategies (quiet signal, organizing the environment, tightening transitions, behavior management, etc.)

-Data gathering and analysis to use for discussion and instructional improvement

-New technology tools to enhance instruction (Smart Board or Promethean Board activities, clickers, wikis, web-site tools, videos, etc.)

-Common Core: incorporating reading and writing into all curricular areas

-Development of assessment tools to measure student progress

-Co-planning and resources gathering

-Modeling and demonstrating

I would love to work with you, too!
