DISTRICT GOALS

2016-2017

FOCUS ON TEACHING & LEARNING

The district shall provide curriculum, instruction and programs for the effective education of all students.

OBJECTIVES:

  1. Continue to promote a positive school environment through the use of programs such as Leader in Me, Olweus Program, and Warrior Way.
  2. Ensure that District curriculum aligns with NYS Learning Standards across all academic disciplines with the intent to increase achievement results over the prior year.
  3. Positively affect District attendance and drop-out rates by strengthening the District’s RTI program, Special Education program, and increasing attendance and graduation rates from prior year.
  4. Use science, technology, engineering, arts and math (STEAM) to increase active student engagement.

FOCUS ON SCHOOL AND COMMUNITY RELATIONSHIPS:

The district shall promote a positive image and provide a pathway to continue building strong relationships with the community, students, parents and staff.

OBJECTIVES:

  1. Continue to update and advise progress of the District initiatives. (NYS Learning Standards, APPR, Strategic Plan, School Climate and Budget)
  2. Evaluate current and explore new means for the dissemination of District initiatives and information to encourage community input on District issues.
  3. Apprise community members on the educational and financial changes within New York State.

FOCUS ON FISCAL STABILITY AND FACILITIES/EQUIPMENT

The district will continue to explore the effective use of district facilities in order to provide an improved educational environment and to control future costs of the district.

OBJECTIVES:

  1. Continue to investigate the recommendations that affect the District athletic and educational facilities.
  2. Present a balanced budget to the community that supports students and program while reflecting the current economic climate and legislative initiatives.
  3. Continually monitor the status of all sources of revenue and take appropriate actions to accommodate any deficiency or surplus.
  4. Go green! Reduce the amount of paper used. Increase the use of electronics. Investigate further recycling within the district. Reduce the amount of waste.
  5. Bring technology infrastructure up-to-date in elementary buildings.
  6. Enhance the educational program, and be fiscally responsible in the areas of staffing and operational costs by having the TONA 2020 committee continue to study the consolidation of elementary schools to build one campus grades Pre-K - 5 at the Fletcher school site.
