During the school year, students will be weighed and measured. Students in grades K-3, 5, 7 and 10 will receive vision screenings. Students in grades K, 1, 3, 5, 7 and 10 will receive hearing screenings. Students in grades 5-9 will receive screening for scoliosis or curvature of the spine. In addition, physical examinations are required for students in grades K, 2, 4, 7 and 10, and for new entrants, and interscholastic sports.
If proof of a physical exam by a student’s primary care provider is not received by the school, the School Physician will conduct physical exams for these students. This exam is limited and is not intended to take the place of a regular exam by the family physician. Should there by any concerns noted as a result of the above screenings, the parent/guardian will be notified. The School Nurse can assist in seeking proper help in addressing any concerns, but the parent/guardian is responsible for making appointments with physicians, dentist, etc. Please check with your physician to make sure your child is up to date with new immunization requirements. These are listed on the district website under Announcements.
